CÀU LONG BIÊN : the iconic bridge across the Red River

The Red River delta is the cradle of Vietnamese nation, and the red river flows through the capital city Hanoi - Thang Long in ancient times. Càu Long Biên is the iconic bridge across the Red River between Hoan Kiem and Long Bien district, built between 1899-1902 during period of French Indochina. Heavily bombed during the American (Vietnam) war to disrupt transportation to the main port of Hai Phong, the bridge today serves trains, motorbikes and pedestrians, which is especially atmospheric during rush hours.
